For the fourth choreography of the show “Slow Emergences,” the piece “Cosmica Lluvia” was a celebration of Chicano culture through folklorico and the evolution of it, while honoring Carol, the choreographer’s mother who was a Chicano folklorico pioneer.

Pretty Woman brings love into the Sun City

Love is a very mysterious feeling, and one everyone can experience at some point in their life. Love can hit someone like a semi-truck, that instantaneous acknowledgement with oneself where they just know that the love they are feeling is something special. Other times, love can be the result of an invisible Trojan Horse, sneaking its way to you like an emotive surprise attack. The latter occurs in “Pretty Woman: The Musical” the latest Broadway show to hit the Sun City.

‘Monomyth’ using common adversity to create an impactful performance

UTEP’s Theater Dance production, “Monomyth” takes the stage on Feb. 20 to show a display of the hero’s journey in everyday life and societal issues. Dancers use their own struggles to face a vulnerable role and leave an impact on the audience leading to self-reflection and an understanding that they are the hero of their own lives.
