On this week’s new episode of The Prospector Podcast, Katrina Villarreal tells us the story of Krishna Jayasankar Menon, a UTEP track and field thrower and the first female thrower from India to receive a division one scholarship, marking only the beginning of her athletic career at UTEP. Maria Guerrero Duran talks with Neema Soratgar, an Afghan refugee who has been hired by UTEP as a visiting global scholar, housed in the Women’s and Gender Studies Department as a research assistant to Director Gina Nuñez-Mchiri. Finally, Anahy Diaz, Itzel Giron, Hugo Hinojosa and Emily Autumn Velasquez sit down to discuss all things women.

Anahy Diaz, is a bilingual Multimedia Journalism, Political Science and Chicano Studies student at The University of Texas at El Paso. She has helped lead The Prospector, as editor-in-chief, copy editor and multimedia editor by writing and creating news packages. Anahy currently works as an intern for NBC News Los Angeles, and has previously interned with NBC’s Today and Weekend Today.
