Season 14, Episode 1: Picking Up on Love… Again!

It has been one full calendar year since The Prospector Podcast saw the introduction of a new staff, so to rewind to the beginning, season 14 picks up on the topic of love, again!

In the season debut, the table discusses the first day of school and how to get over semester blues. The Prospector staff and fans of Stranger Things talk about the finale which was not well received. Finally, we learn about alternate ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day, such as Galentine’s Day!

Sebastian Perez-Navarro, Multimedia Editor

Sebastian Perez-Navarro is a junior majoring in communication studies. He is a Play-By-Play broadcaster who has transmitted for ESPN+/Minervision in Softball, the El Paso Sports Network (EP Sports Net) in Basketball, and for the Texas Sports Marketing Radio in Football. He is a former 600 ESPN El Paso broadcast intern, where he also called football & basketball games. He also hosts The Postgame Pulse on EP Sports Net, and UTEP’s student-led Prospector Podcast. Sebastian is a proud member of the UTEP Speech and Debate Team. There, he competes in extemporaneous, impromptu, platform, and argumentative settings.

Kristian Hernandez, Sports Editor

Kristian Hernandez is a senior media advertising major with a minor in psychology. He is the Sports Editor for The Prospector and has been a part of the EPCC student newspaper known as the Tejano Tribune. He is also part of the EPCC Dance Team helping with media and creative design.

Cameron Mason, Audience & Engagement Editor

Cameron Mason is a sophomore at the University of Texas at El Paso studying multimedia advertising with a minor in kinesiology. He is the Audience and Engagement Editor at The Prospector. He also interns with the UTEP athletics department. After graduation, he aspires to become a football coach and also pursue a career as a creative producer.

Victoria Adler, Copy & Web Editor

Victoria Adler is a junior majoring in digital media production at the University of Texas at El Paso. She contributes as copy and web editor for The Prospector and serves as the treasurer for the Digital Media Production Association. Through her work she hopes to gain hands-on experience in visual storytelling and further develop her skills in photography and creative media. After graduation, she aspires to join the entertainment industry and pursue her dream of working with National Geographic.

Nathaniel Flores, Staff Photographer

Nathaniel Flores is a freshman at the University of Texas at El Paso majoring in kinesiology with a minor in communications. He is a staff photographer at the Prospector. After graduation he hopes to work in the film industry while also pursuing a career as a physical therapist.

Fred Kepfield, Contributor/Writer

Fred Kepfield is a Senior Majoring in Multimedia Journalism with a minor in Leadership Studies. He is a contributor writer at the Prospector. He also serves as a membership chair of the UTEP chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ). After graduation, he hopes to work as a sports journalist for ESPN, covering combat sports and basketball.

Adrienne Garcia, Account Executive

Adrienne Garcia is a sophomore at UTEP majoring in Business management. She is the current Account Executive for both The Prospector and Minero Magazine Publications. After graduation, she plans on pursuing a career in marketing and sales related to multimedia.

Mia Colmenero, Layout Editor

Mia Colmenero is a junior majoring in multimedia journalism. She is the layout editor for The Prospector. After graduating she wants to pursue a higher education in getting her master’s in communications and work as an investigative journalist.
