El Paso continues celebrating Pride month

Pride month has been celebrated by the sun city through events like the Locomotive pride night June 4 and the “Grow with Us” farmer’s market that was hosted June 11. However, El Paso still has several events lined up to celebrate ranging from parades, drag shows, splash parties, and more. Below you will find what is happening, when, and where throughout the sun city to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.

Rainbow Crosswalk ribbon cutting ceremony

There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the new rainbow crosswalks at Pride Square 9 a.m., June 14 at N. Stanton Street between E. Franklin and E. Missouri Avenue. These rainbow crosswalks have been in talks for years and now that they’re finally being implemented, the Pride community is ready to celebrate.

PrideFest ‘Show me your disco’ edition

The 16th annual El Paso Sun City PrideFest will take place 3 p.m. to midnight, June 18 at 301 S. Ochoa Street. There will be indoor and outdoor stages, where local and regional talent will be showcased, including DJs, drag shows, live bands, and more. Tickets range from $25 to $150, depending on whether you want general admission tickets or VIP access, and can be found at  www.suncitypride.org/events/discopridefest.

Pride Parade

El Paso will host its 17th annual Sun City Pride Parade at 10 a.m., June 25 starting at 700 E. Mills Avenue. The theme “Show us your disco” continues as guests are encouraged to break out their bell bottoms, platform shoes, roller skates, and more to pay homage to the 1970s. There will be a pride parade picnic and awards ceremony following the parade at Houston Park. Free food and drinks will be provided along with live entertainment from the Sun City Drag Divas and music by DJ Big Daddy.

Out at the Park: Chihuahuas Pride Night

The El Paso Chihuahuas baseball team will host its annual pride night 6:35 p.m., June 30 at Southwest University Park as they face the Oklahoma City Dodgers in celebration of El Paso’s LGBTQ+ community. Tickets for the game can be found at www.milb.com/el-paso/tickets/single-game-tickets.

Splash Party 2022

Wet ‘N’ Wild Waterworld will host its annual Splash Party 10 a.m.-9 p.m., July 3, where the celebration will take place in the newly remodeled Jungle Park, exclusive to Pride guests only. Once the park closes, pride guests have access to the park for two extra hours and the “largest wave pool party” begins. Tickets for the event can be found at www.suncitypride.org/events/splash2022.
