Conference USA has officially announced the cancellation of the remainder of the 2020 Air Force Reserve C-USA Basketball Championships effective immediately. The announcement was made via Conference USA’s official twitter page

The announcement comes after the National Basketball Association suspended the rest of the 2019-2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The UTEP women’s basketball team was slated to take on Old Dominion in the quarterfinals of the tournament at 12:30 p.m. MT.

In the men’s bracket the Miners were defeated in the opening round against Marshall.

“We are disappointed to have our season come to an end, but we support the decision of the conference office to cancel the remainder of the tournament,” UTEP women’s basketball head coach Kevin Baker said via twitter. “There are things that are bigger than basketball, and our number one concern is the health and well being of everyone.”
