The community pay their respects for the victims at Cielo Vista Walmart, Monday August 6th.

Two days after the tragic mass shooting that affected the El Paso community on Aug, 3,  the mortality figures have increased to 22.

David Shimp, the CEO of Del Sol Medical Center and Dr. Stephen Flaherty announced during a press conference two more victims of the shooting had passed away this morning from their injuries. 

“It is absolutely heartbreaking, and I’m terribly sorry to be able to share that two of the patients have ended up passing away. One elderly woman ended up passing away in the middle of the night and  another patienten just recently passed away,” said Shimp. 

With sorrow showing on his face, Dr. Flaherty described the conditions of one of the victims who died. The unnamed patient had major abdominal injuries affecting the liver, kidney, and intestines. Although the patient received massive blood transfusions she passed away from her injuries.

“I don’t think I can add anything more at this point except to echo our deep sorrow on behalf of myself and my team” said Dr. Flaherty during the press conference.
