iFLY Indoor Skydiving invited the El Paso community to join them as they held their topping up ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 5, where they introduced the concept of indoor skydiving.

Bill Adams, iFLY El Paso’s co-owner said in a statement, “We’re thrilled to provide residents in the region with an exciting entertainment option in an up and coming part of El Paso. The dream of flight is something everyone should experience and we can’t wait to make it a reality for everyone.”

A gold shovel ceremony that featured iFLY, ARCO/Murray General Contractor and city officials was held at the event. There were also various speakers who talked during the event about the indoor skydiving facility that will soon be available for the public.

“We’re building a wind tunnel and wrapping a building around it. It’s actually a lot more like building a watch than a building–there’s a lot of detail and energy and passion that goes into it,” said Jeff Meissner, vice president of ARCO/Murray which is the company responsible for building the facility for iFLY.

The event was lively as many people cheered excitedly for the upcoming business. Those who attended the event had the chance to spin a wheel that allowed people to win prizes such as free flight packages, iFLY merchandise and 10 percent off of indoor skydiving flights.

While the structure is still under construction, iFLY is expecting to have its grand opening in early April. It will be located across from Top Golf in west El Paso.

iFLY, formerly known as SkyVenture LLC, began in 1998 and opened its first facility the following year. Today there are 37 locations scattered throughout the U.S., Europe, Canada and Asia in which people can experience flight without having to jump out of a plane.

The people of El Paso are able to purchase gift cards for iFLY Indoor Skydiving at Costco in Bassett Place or at the iFLY kiosk found within the Cielo Vista Mall.
