The UTEP soccer team won, 6-1, in their season opener against Lubbock Christian University Friday night at University Field.

Coach Kevin Cross’s club had six different Miners score in the home opener. Freshman Jojo Ngongo, junior Danielle Carreon, sophomores Anna Jimmerson, Vic Bohdan, April Pate and Jackie Soto each scored for the Miners. Senior goalkeeper Alyssa Palacios registered three saves.

The Miners will play again this weekend on the road as they faceĀ Abilene Christian Sunday, Aug. 19, at 6 p.m.
