As announced by the Conference USA office on Tuesday, Jan. 24, Emmanuel Korir and Tobi Amusan were both named C-USA Male and Female Track Athlete of the Week.

Korir is a back-to-back player of the week honoree. This past weekend, Korir set the 600-meter dash all-time world record that has been alive since 1999 at the Cherry & Silver Invitational with a 1:14.97 time. He was also named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row.

On the women’s side, Amusan took gold in the 60-meter hurdles (8.08) and the 200-meter hurdle (23.5).

The UTEP track team will travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Friday, Feb. 3-4 for the New Mexico Classic.
