With over 100 years since it’s opening, UTEP is believed to be haunted, as some students have witnessed paranormal activities.

On Friday, the Student Alumni Association hosted campus tours to share the haunted history of the university.

Event coordinator, Daniela Gardea, said that the Psychology building is taught to be haunted.

“You can hear radio static when there is no one there,” Gardea said.

Gardea said that in the early 1900s, a student attempted to jump between Hudspeth and Worrel Hall but failed to land correctly causing him to lose his life.

“It is said that his spirit is roaming around the two places where they meet,” Gardea said.

Multimedia journalism major, Jacqueline Aguirre, said she has witnessed a ghost of a girl in a track outfit multiple times by the P-1 parking lot.

“I’ll get up to the sun bowl and turn back to look at the beauty of the sun bowl and there she is, just looking at me,” Aguirre said.

Digital media major, Daniel Gonzales, said he believes in possible paranormal activity in the university.

“If you look at all the stuff that have happened here, how long it’s been here, I am pretty sure there’s some bad stuff that has happened and left its impact here,” Gonzales said.
