Two years ago in 2014, the UTEP football team reinstated the beloved retro Miners’ helmet in spirit of the school’s 100th anniversary. While those helmets are still dear to fans’ hearts, the Miners appear to be moving in a new uniform direction.

Throughout the eras of UTEP football, the program has not seen the light of a blue-spirited helmet; however, on Friday, Sept. 2, the Miners unveiled a brand new look. The helmet will feature the normal UTEP pickaxe; but, contrary to the usual blue stripe or blue pickaxe and orange as the primary color, the color blue is the foundation of the new helmets, while orange is the secondary color.

The Miners will debut the new addition to their uniform as they take on the New Mexico State Aggies on Saturday, Sept. 3, in the Sun Bowl.
