This semester a familiar face will be returning to the UTEP women’s tennis team. Former Miner, Rebecca Calvillo will serve as a graduate assistant.

Calvillo played for the Miners from 2010 to 2013, compiling the second most career combined wins in school history with 151. Calvillo holds the school record for most career wins in doubles and single season doubles wins.

Via UTEP Athletics, head coach Robert Aspillaga announced the addition of Calvillo. Along with Calvillo was the addition of Sergio Acosta, who will serve as a volunteer assistant coach.

“I am extremely excited to have Rebeca and Sergio join our coaching staff,” Aspillaga said. “Rebeca was one of the most awarded players in the history of UTEP tennis, and her competitive background will contribute immensely to the program.”

The Miners will open the fall semester in mid September at the Midland Open.
