Minerpalooza lineup announced

Minerpalooza will be “The Party of the Century,” and will take place at 6 p.m. on Sept. 5.  More than 30,000 people are expected to attend this year.

UTEP is proud to announce this year’s special music entertainment line up starting with Matta Johnson, Tim Gunter, Fungi Mungle, Cristina Eustage and The Cataracs.

This Miner tradition was first originated in 1990 when Gary Edens, vice president for the Division of Student Affairs at UTEP, got the idea when he attended the enormous concert of  “Lollapalooza.”

Minerpalooza has expanded through the years and what started as a picnic is now an annual pep-rally celebration hosted at the beginning of the school year to kick off the UTEP football season. The highlights include booths of about 100 different student organizations, carnival stands, inflatable games, a Kid Zone, local bands, food, and special appearances by student athletes and coaches.

Due to the university’s under construction transformation, the event will be located at the  P-9 parking lot, off of Glory Road.

For more details of the band times and event information please visit the official website, www.minerpalooza.com.

Kimberly Valle may be reached at [email protected].
