The Clothesline Project

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, students and community members came together to stand up to domestic violence and sexual assault.

The Clothesline Project honors survivors and victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. T-shirts have been designed and illustrated by survivors and student allies who have offered their voices with the purpose of spreading the awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Graduate research assistant at the University Career Center, Areli Guajardo said, “These shirts were created by students and community support groups. It’s an issue that’s sometimes not reported.”

“Tomorrow morning we ask students to wear denim to support survivors and Take Back the Night is on Thursday. It is free in the UTEP Union, and on Friday, we are having a speaker who is a local survivor of sexual assault.”
