The Indiana Pacers played their first home game in the NBA finals in 25 years, and gave fans, including former Indiana Pacer legend, Reggie Miller, a night to remember.
The Pacers showed grit and hustle throughout the game, garnering 13 steals and 11 blocks. Both teams kept it close, going back and forth in their scoring opportunities, yet the Pacers had the edge at home catching the Oklahoma City (OKC) Thunder off guard and forcing turnovers.
Although the Thunder had 17 turnovers, their offensive efforts did not go unnoticed. Forward Jalen Williams ended the game with 26 points and had a field goal percentage of 50%. Star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander earned 24 points but only shot 1-2 at the free throw line with an unimpressive plus/minus of minus-3. OKC center Chet Holmgren earned himself a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Indiana outperformed the Thunder on both sides of the court with Tyrese Haliburton almost getting a triple-double with 22 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds. Even with his double-double performance, he shot 50% from the 3-point-line while shooting 52.9% from the floor.
Pacers forward Paskal Siakam ended the game having 21 points, six rebounds and two steals, which gave him a plus/minus of plus-8. Finally, there was a surprising scoring feat from guard Bennedict Mathurin off the bench. He scored an efficient 27 points, with a field goal percentage of 75% and only had one turnover the entire game.
The Indiana Pacers won Game 3 116-107, taking a 2-1 lead against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Both teams played Game 4 in Indiana on June 13, with the Pacers looking to further bridge the gap against Oklahoma while the Thunder tried to win a crucial Game 4 to keep the series tied.
